History

Hockey began in Newcastle in 1932, with Souths forming after the split of Carlton in 1934.  Souths has always been since its formative years, considered one of the big two clubs in the Newcastle competition, and we have had many skilled representative players amongst our ranks. Throughout the years Souths have been consistently successful. 

Our club members and coaching staff include qualified umpires, an ex-Australian player and a number of regional, state and development team players who are all willing to help make Souths a club you want to be involved with...on and off the field.

 

In 2018, Souths had the following Men's Teams:

HCPHL - Finished Regular Season 4th, made it through to Preliminary Final

2nd Grade - Minor/Major Premiers

3rd Grade - Finiahed Regular Season 2nd, made it through to Preliminary Final

4th Grade - Minor/Major Premiers

5th Grade - Minor Premiers, made it through to Grand Final

 

In 2018, Souths had the following Junior Men's Teams:

A Grade (Under 17s) - Minor/Major Premiers

B Grade Redbacks (Under 15s) - Finished Regular Season 2nd, made it through to Grand Final

B Grade Strikers (Under 15s) - Finished Regular Season 3rd, made it through to Semi Final

C Grade (Under 13s) - Finished Regular Season 2nd, made it through to Grand Final

D Grade (Under 11s) - Minor/Major Premiers

 

Souths won both the Men's and Junior Men's Club Championships in 2017.
