History

Hockey began in Newcastle in 1932, with Souths forming after the split of Carlton in 1934.  Souths has always been since its formative years, considered one of the big two clubs in the Newcastle competition, and we have had many skilled representative players amongst our ranks. Throughout the years Souths have been consistently successful. 

Our club members and coaching staff include qualified umpires, a current Australian player, an ex-Australian player and a number of regional, state and development team players who are all willing to help make Souths a club you want to be involved with...on and off the field.
